Avaliação do cumprimento da reserva legal no Brasil

Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o cumprimento da reserva legal no Brasil, dando maior atenção ao que ocorreu na década de 1990. A reserva legal é uma porção da propriedade rural que não pode sofrer o corte raso, mas pode ser explorada comercialmente. Entende-se por cumprimento da reserva legal o respeito à proporção mínima da área total dos imóveis rurais coberta com reserva legal, a qual é fixada pela legislação. A reserva legal foi oficialmente instituída no Brasil em 1934 e sofreu, ao longo do tempo, modificações na dimensão e finalidade. Este trabalho evidencia essas mudanças ao longo do tempo e avalia os resultados que elas implicaram. Além disso, define e estima um modelo econométrico para determinar as variáveis que afetam a medida de cumprimento da reserva legal.
