Abstract

The paper presented a short review of research on Total Factor Productivity (TFP) estimates at the global level and in the selected countries. Moreover, own study on TFP in the Polish farms during 2004-2012 based on FADN data was shown. The TFP measures were calculated for crops, milk, pigs and mixed farms using Cobb-Douglas’ regression models. We concluded that TFP for the Polish farms seems to be comparable to other farms, particularly to the EU-15 countries. Similarly to those countries the TFP measure for the milk farms was the highest. However, average annual reduction of TFP observed for some farm types in analysed period can give cause for concern. This reduction may result from fluctuations of agricultural productivity caused by the total economic situation, particularly in 2008-2009. Synopsis. W niniejszej pracy dokonano krótkiego przeglądu badań pokazujących szacunki wskaźnika całkowitej produktywności rolnictwa (Total Factor Productivity – TFP) w skali globalnej i w wybranych krajach. Zaprezentowano także wyniki własne, dotyczące analizy TFP w rolnictwie polskim w latach 2004-2012. Analizę wykonano w oparciu o dane rachunkowe gospodarstw rolnych z Polskiego FADN.
