Abstract

The article presents the results of a categorisation of fields of study using data on three years of graduates available in the nationwide system for monitoring the professional careers of graduates. This categorisation uses two selected composite indicators for the first and fifth years after obtaining a degree. Combinations of the values of these indicators make it possible to distinguish categories of fields of study where graduates are assessed in different ways by employers. The results of the categorisation indicate the existence of a relationship between the professional careers of graduates and the field of science to which a specific field of study was assigned, as well as the development of individual regions. The results also point to a differentiation of categories depending on the form and level of studies. Special attention was paid to fields of study assigned to social sciences. Universities whose graduates permanently obtain specific categories have been identified.
