Abstract

In the present study att:mPt has been made to identify different types of farming systems in Sonitpur district and optimise the resource use among different size groups of farms using deterministic linear programming technique. Capital appeared to be an important resource constraint While the supply of human and bullock labour were in surplus. Optimization led to better utilization of resources, increase in gross cropped area and higher net returns. However, the optimal plans can be made effective only when the constraints in resource availability like timely supply and liberalization of credit, creation of irrigation potentialities and supply of other farm inputs are eliminated.
