Abstract

In context of globalization, the competition between European countries, the BRICs and American economic power, the industry development finds out a new perspective, that of the interconnection between the national and regional economies, the intensification of regional specialization and the relocation of various industries based on the profit motive. According to one of the most recent EU documents - Report of 14 October 2011 entitled" Performance and competitiveness policies of member states" - our country is part of the countries Group with productivity significantly below the European average, besides Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Cyprus, Portugal, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Bulgaria. Among the most significant competitiveness indicators of the industry, which were analyzed in the evaluation of the EU countries, an important role is occupied by the indicators refer to the workforce. Our paper presents the results of this analysis and policy recommendations to improve the situation of the industry and employment in this field.
