Just Energy transition: What does that mean for Africa?

Abstract

For Africa, the just energy transition concept in theory, has the potential to improve access to green energy, strengthen environmental sustainability, foster economic development that will lead to better quality of life and build a long-term resilience to climate change. For this to become a reality continent’s leaders will need to develop a structured and an Africa-owned business model which will ensure that the attributes, which will ensure real just energy transition, are in place now. For this to happen, to continent will have to stand up to aggression and manipulations from external powers and fight what it thinks and believes will be a just energy transition. If the African leaders have learnt nothing from the vaccine distributions model during the covid period, then these leaders don’t deserve the citizens’ support or respect.
