Innovations in mobile money for better health in sub-Saharan Africa

The vast majority of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are focused on eradicating poverty and inequality across the worldseek to stir economic prosperity on the one hand, and promote growth-inclusive strategies that ensure healthy lives and wellbeing (SDG3).Given the proven challengesfaced with increasing total life expectancy, reducing poverty and mitigating income inequality, the current policy difficulties are more apparent in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). According to a substantial body of research on the topic,as against Asia in 2019, SSA tops as the sub-region with the largest percentage of inhabitants living in drastic poverty (Asongu & Nwachukwu, 2016; Bicaba et al., 2017; Nwani & Osuji, 2020).Moreover, SSA is noted for having one of the highest rates of income disparity across the globe (Tchamyou, 2019, 2021; Asongu et al., 2021). Consistent with these assertions, it isworth noting that the sub-region ranks least globally in terms of health performance (Otim et al., 2020).
