Abstract

The chronic underdevelopment of Africa is an output of decisions taken at the 1884 Berlin Conference. However, the chronic neglect of the continent’s development challenges lies squarely with African political leadership. No nation has ever industrialised through the exporting of raw materials and natural resources or by relying heavily on imports of finished products and donor handout.
