Abstract

In the article the challenges of global and national scale to higher professional education system in Russia are discussed as well as the necessity of higher professional education system modernization and adaptation to global requirements of todays world, new requirements to strategic planning of technical university activities are observed. Questions of strategic planning for modern technical university are viewed with considerations based on National research Tomsk polytechnic university experience through TPU concept of development and the main points of TPU integrated program of strategic development for the period of 2011-2015.
