Zur Frage einer Infrastrukturlücke Ostdeutschlands gegenüber Westdeutschland

Abstract

In dem Beitrag wird die Infrastrukturausstattung der neuen Bundesländer vorwiegend auf Grund einer Auswertung vorhandener Fachliteratur untersucht. Der Zustand der Infrastruktur in Ostdeutschland zum Zeitpunkt der Vereinigung 1990 war bekanntermaßen sehr schlecht. Der nach mehr als zehnjähriger Aufbautätigkeit aktuell verbleibende Nachholbedarf dürfte am größten im Straßenwesen sein. Hier wird es vor allem darauf ankommen, die geplanten großräumigen Autobahnanbindungen für Mecklenburg-Vorpommern sowie Teile Sachsen-Anhalts und Thüringens fertig zu stellen und ferner die zahlreichen Mängel im Netz der Bundes-, Landes- und Gemeindestraßen zügig weiter zu beheben. Bei der Eisenbahn geht es insbesondere um die ICE-Neubaustrecke Nürnberg-Erfurt sowie um noch ausstehende Verbesserungen am bestehenden Netz, soweit die Nachfrage nach Verkehrsleistungen dies gerechtfertigt erscheinen lässt. Der geringste Nachholbedarf besteht im Telekommunikationssektor und – nach Realisierung aktueller Planungen – im Bereich der Flughäfen.
