Employment and livelihood: the nature of the labour process in the formulation of rural development policy

Abstract

Working paper on a theoretical approach to rural and urban employment creation in development policy and the implications for rural development, based on the case of India. Analyses traditional theories of industrialization and their limitations, examines the employment potential of industrial growth, the rural labour market process and rural employment issues.
