Exceso de Toma de Riesgo Crediticio en Chile

Abstract

Este artículo estudia la interacción entre el ciclo económico y el mercado del crédito. Nuestra evidencia señala que los períodos de expansión económica gatillan en el mediano plazo, primero, aumentos de la cartera vencida, y luego, reducciones del crédito. Interpretamos este fenómeno como un exceso de toma de riesgo. De manera similar, los períodos de contracción económica, especialmente por tasas de interés altas, son seguidos por caídas de mediano plazo de la cartera vencida y luego por expansiones del crédito
