La participation associative au regard des temps sociaux

Abstract

Comparé à la population totale des plus de 15 ans, le monde associatif est plus diplômé, plus aisé et plus masculin. Résider dans une zone rurale ou une petite ville, mais aussi dans l'Ouest et l'Est de la France incite à y adhérer. Ce sont les associations sportives et culturelles qui sont de loin les plus fréquentées. Dans le monde des salariés, travailler dans le secteur public prédispose à s'adonner à une activité associative. Pouvoir maîtriser son emploi du temps et connaître des horaires variables sont également des situations qui lui sont favorables. En revanche exercer un métier pénible et fatiguant la décourage. La fréquentation des associations est plus forte chez les salariés qui choisissent un temps partiel et chez les salariés à temps plein dont les horaires hebdomadaires sont inférieurs à 35 heures. Par contre, elle pâtit d'une activité professionnelle exigeant des durées beaucoup plus longues. Au regard du contexte domestique, c'est l'âge des enfants et non leur nombre qui importe : avoir un enfant très jeune fait obstacle à la participation. Celle-ci est par contre encouragée lorsque des aides à la réalisation de certaines tâches sont reçues en provenance de tiers. La propension à fréquenter les associations apparaît fortement liée à la pratique d'autres activités à forte sociabilité.
