Trayectoria de los estudios sobre el capital social en América Latina

Abstract

Resumen: Desde la década de 1990 se presentó en América Latina, entre académicos y hacedores de políticas, un creciente interés por estudiar el capital social. Este concepto compuesto, convertido hoy en teoría, defiende la solidaridad, la confianza y la cooperación, entre otros valores, como determinantes del desarrollo económico y social de las naciones. El artículo muestra la trayectoria que ha tenido esta teoría en Latinoamérica, tanto en la investigación académica como en la política pública. Describe el contexto en que surgió el interés por el capital social en América Latina; presenta las dinámicas de trabajo sobre este capital en la región; e identifica las agendas de trabajo que se vienen configurando en las últimas décadas en las ciencias sociales sobre este importante activo económico.
