Income of Working-Age Veterans Receiving Disability Compensation

Abstract

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) compensates veterans for medical conditions or injuries that occurred or worsened while they were on active duty. For this report, CBO compared the earnings, personal income, and household income of working-age male veterans who have a VA disability rating with those of veterans who do not have one. Most veterans in both groups work.
