Análise dos Aspectos Sociais e Produtivos da Mamona com vistas a Produção do Biodiesel: um estudo de caso

Abstract

A mamoneira é uma cultura industrial explorada em função do óleo contido em suas sementes. No Brasil, a região nordeste se destaca como potencial produtora de biodiesel de mamona, podendo utilizar-se desta alternativa para incluir no processo pequenos agricultores desprovidos de alternativas rentáveis. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar os aspectos sociais e produtivos da Mamona com vistas a Produção do Biodiesel nos municípios de Crateús e Novo Oriente no Estado do Ceará. Os municípios foram escolhidos para o estudo devido os mesmos serem indicados, segundo o zoneamento feito pela EMBRAPA. Foram utilizados dados primários e secundários. Nos municípios estudados prevalecem os produtores donos de suas terras, assentados e rendeiros. Os produtores na sua maioria não utilizam o fogo, mobilizam o solo, não adubam, realizam capinas, não fazem pós-colheita e recebem assistência técnica. Grande parte dos mesmos é associado, recebem incentivo à produção, mas não melhoraram sua renda. Dos filhos de produtores com idade escolar quase 100% freqüenta a escola. As produtividades obtidas pelos produtores ficou bem abaixo da esperada, principalmente em Crateús. Palavras chaves: mamona, biodiesel
