Privatisierung ohne Privatismus. Soziale Medien im digitalen Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit

Abstract

Der Beitrag geht der Frage nach, wie sich die durch soziale Medien transformierte Öffentlichkeit der Gegenwart im Rückgriff auf Jürgen Habermas’ ursprüngliche Theorie des Strukturwandels der Öffentlichkeit fassen lässt. Er plädiert für eine Rückbesinnung auf politökonomische Grundlagen als Basis der Analyse von Öffentlichkeit und arbeitet für die sozialen Medien einen charakteristischen Zusammenhang von digital-behavioristischer Verhaltenssteuerung und singularisiertem Publikum im Kontext proprietärer Marktformen heraus. In der digitalen Konstellation geht es in der Folge weniger um die Ruhigstellung des*der Bürger*in als Konsument*in, sondern um seine*ihre auch politische Aktivierung – allerdings unter dem Primat kommerzieller Interessen: um Privatisierung ohne Privatismus.
