Climate for Innovation, Procedural Fairness and Organizational Commitment: An Empirical Study

Abstract

The study examined the relationships between managerial perceptions of the innovation supportive climate (IC), procedural fairness (PF) and the affective and continuance organizational commitment (OC) among a sample of 250 managerial personnel belonging to manufacturing organizations in North India. The study tries to empirically investigate the relationship between certain dimensions of IC, PF and OC. Besides establishing the suggested relationships, results unearthed that among the factors of IC, the positive dimension recognition negatively predicted continuance OC. The results of this study contribute to the clarification of the causal relations of the antecedents of commitment, and highlight the important role of IC and PF on elevating organizational commitment in organizations having similar environment as that of the present study.
