Optimal production policy with shelf life including shortages

Abstract

A multi-product environment is considered in which one item has a shelf-life constraint. An attempt is made to extend the existing work by incorporating shortages in the system. Mathematical formulations are provided for the optimum cycle time and shortages. These are explained with the help of a numerical example.
