Poverty Trend in Indonesia 1970-1987 Abstract : Banyak studi telah menyafikan angka-angka yang dapat merefleksikan tingkat kemiskinan. Akan tetapi studi studi tersebut pada umumnya menggunakan ukuran tingkat kemiskinan yang tidak sensitif terhadap penurunan pendapatan penduduk miskin, atau tidak sensitif terhadap transfer pendapatan di atara kelompok miskin atau tak tergantung kepada banyaknya mereka yang tergolong miskin. Ukuran tersebut adalah persentase penduduk miskin (H) dan berbagai ukuran tingkat kemiskinan yang berdasarkan "kesenjangan kemiskinan" (poverty gap). Tulisan ini menyajikan nilai dari ukuran-ukuran tingkat kemiskinan yang lebih Mutakhir yang tidak mempunyai kelemahan-kelemahan seperti yang dimiliki oleh ukuran-ukuran "tradisional” tersebut. Terlihat bahwa diukur dari berbagai ukuran tersebut tingkat kemiskinan selama periode 1970-1987 mengalami penurunan Hal ini juga didukung oleh hubungananegatif antara tingkat kemiskinan dan tingkat pendapatan yang diperoleh dari analis I regresi Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pertumbuhan ekonomi pada periode tersebut telah diikuti oleh penurunan tingkat kemiskinan. Akan tetapi kesimpulan di atas adalah kesimpulan agregat, yang dapat saja terjadi bersama-sama dengan adanya pemiskinan di beberapa kelompok penduduk Tambahan pula, jelas bahwa penemuan di atas sangat tergantung kepada keabsahan data dan garis kemiskinan yang digunakan. Kedua isu tersebut sangat penting dan tidak dikaji dalam tulisan ini
