The relationship between start-ups, market mobility and employment growth: An empirical analysis for Dutch regions

Abstract

type="main" xml:lang="es"> La literatura reciente sugiere dos mecanismos mediante los que la puesta en marcha de nuevas empresas contribuye al desarrollo económico: el crecimiento de las nuevas empresas y la competencia entre las empresas establecidas inducido por las aparición de empresas de nueva creación. Si bien los estudios existentes deducen el efecto de la competencia por medios indirectos, este artículo utiliza una medida directa, llamada movilidad del mercado, para estimar el efecto de competencia inducida. Los resultados empíricos son consistentes con la idea de que ambos efectos son importantes a la hora de explicar el impacto económico a largo plazo de las empresas de nueva creación. En primer lugar, las empresas de nueva creación más exitosas crecen hasta convertirse en empresas de alto crecimiento, y en segundo lugar, la aparición de nuevas empresas estimula a las empresas establecidas a buscar un mayor rendimiento.
