Von der Paradoxie des Fortschritts zum unvermittelten Leitbild

Abstract

Meistens ist es schon die Art und Weise, in der eine Frage gestellt wird, die festlegt, wie die zulässigen Antwortmöglichkeiten ausfallen sollen. Im Wortlaut der genannten Preisfrage sind (mindestens) drei Voraussetzungen enthalten, die dringend einer vertiefenden Diskussion bedürften: Erstens in der Bestimmung der Umwelt als offenbar ziemlich zerbrechliches Gut, das jedenfalls ‚geschützt‘ oder gar ‚bewahrt‘ werden muss. Im Ausschreibungstext ist diesbezüglich von einer „Suche nach tragfähigen Alternativen im Umgang mit der Natur“ die Rede, in die sich die Antwortversuche auf die Preisfrage sollen einordnen lassen... (WZB-Mitteilungen 2000, S. 31). Womit natürlich die Unterstellung verbunden ist, dass in unserer soziokulturellen Gegenwart der Pfad der ‚Naturverträglichkeit‘ längst verlassen wurde - und eben damit die Umwelt etwas (vor uns) zu Schützendes und Bewahrendes geworden sei.
