Die E-Mail Debate als Instrument der internationalen Management- und Marketing-Ausbildung an Universitäten

Abstract

Im Jahre 1987 begann die University of Rhode Island (URI) in Kingston, Rhode Island (USA), damit, die Electronic Mail-Technologie (E-Mail) in die studentische Ausbildung im betriebswirtschaftlichen und kommunikationswissenschaftlichen Bereich systematisch einzubeziehen. Pionierarbeit leisteten dabei die Professoren Kim und Wood (Kim/Wood 1993, S. 3). Dabei ging es nicht allein darum, die Studenten mit dieser Kommunikationstechnologie vertraut zu machen. Vielmehr stand das Ziel im Vordergrund, amerikanischen Studenten im Lichte der sich beschleunigenden Internationalisierung des Alltagslebens und der Weltwirtschaft einen Weg zur Kommunikation mit weltweiten Partnern zu eröffnen. Zu diesem Zweck entwickelte die URI einen neuen Ansatz zur Globalisierung des Lehrprogramms: die internationale E-Mail Debate (ebenda).
