2005 - Entscheidungsjahr für Kosovo?

Abstract

Befürchtungen vor einem erneuten Aufflackern bewaffneter Konflikte in und um Kosovo, die die ohnehin brüchige Stabilität in weiten Teilen des ehemaligen Jugoslawien zunichte machen würden, nehmen derzeit zu. Ob tatsächlich die für Mitte des Jahres angekündigten Verhandlungen über den zukünftigen Status der Provinz beginnen werden, ist noch offen. Die anschwellende internationale Debatte über Kosovo könnte erneut zu transatlantischen Differenzen und zum Streit mit Rußland führen. Am 22. Februar will US-Präsident George Bush mit den Spitzen von EU und NATO in Brüssel auch über Kosovo reden. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
