Vom "Wandel" zum Stillstand? Die US-Kongresswahlen 2010

Abstract

Mit dem deutlichen Sieg der Republikaner bei der Wahl zum Repräsentantenhaus endet in den USA eine kurze Ära des »unified government« - der seltenen Konstellation,dass Kongress und Weißes Haus in der Hand derselben Partei liegen. Dabei bergen die neuen Mehrheitsverhältnisse die Gefahr des Stillstands. Sie könnten die Republikaner aber auch aus ihrer Blockadehaltung erwecken, da sie als Mehrheitspartei nun in der Verantwortung stehen, konstruktive Lösungen zu entwickeln. Viel Zeit für Kompromisse gibt es allerdings nicht, denn der nächste Präsidentschaftswahlkampf dürfte schon Ende 2011 beginnen
