Schweden: Rechtspopulistisch, aber EU-freundlich. Der Wahlerfolg der »Schwedendemokraten« überschattet die gewachsene Zustimmung der Schweden zur EU

Abstract

Der Ausgang der schwedischen Parlamentswahlen im September 2010 ist vielfach als weiterer Beleg für das Erstarken rechtspopulistischer Parteien in Europa gewertet worden. Das Beispiel Schweden zeigt jedoch auch, dass zunehmender Rechtspopulismus nicht zwangsläufig mit wachsender Europaskepsis einhergehen muss. Obwohl die »Schwedendemokraten« neben einwanderungsfeindlichen auch Anti-EU-Positionen vertreten, haben letztere kaum zu ihrem politischen Aufstieg beigetragen. Vielmehr ist das als traditionell EU-skeptisch geltende Schweden inzwischen auch »mental« in der Europäischen Union angekommen
