Libanon: Dramatische Zuspitzung der Regierungskrise

Abstract

Seitdem im November 2006 die schiitischen Minister aus dem Kabinett von Premier Siniora ausgetreten sind, befindet sich die libanesische Politik in der Krise. Im Januar 2007 kam es während eines von Hisbollah ausgerufenen Generalstreiks zu Straßenkämpfen zwischen sunnitischen und schiitischen Demonstranten. Seit Dezember starben bei Ausschreitungen neun Demonstranten, etwa 150 wurden verletzt. Politisch bleibt das Land in zwei Lager gespalten, alle bisherigen Vermittlungsversuche sind gescheitert. Die Angst vor einem neuen Bürgerkrieg greift um sich. Was sind die Gründe für die derzeitige Krise? Welche Implikationen hat sie für die internationalen Bemühungen um eine langfristige Stabilisierung der Lage nach dem Juli-Krieg 2006? (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
