"No" zur Verfassungsreform in Venezuela

Abstract

Nach einer Dekade stetiger Wahlerfolge erlitt Hugo Chávez am 2. Dezember bei dem Referendum über sein Verfassungsprojekt seine erste Niederlage. Das Wahlergebnis war knapp, es reichte jedoch, um seine Reformpläne zu stoppen. Diese hätten zu einem erheblichen Zuwachs an Macht für den Präsidenten, zu einer weiteren Aushöhlung der Demokratie und zum Aufbau einer staatszentrischen Wirtschaft geführt. Nun steht die siegreiche Opposition vor der Herausforderung, auf der Basis dieses Erfolgs eine konstruktive und programmatische Alternative zum »Sozialismus des 21. Jahrhunderts« zu entwickeln. Der geringe Zusammenhalt in ihren Reihen und das Fehlen einer Integrationsfigur werden es ihr allerdings schwer machen, diese Aufgabe zu erfüllen. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
