Libanon: Der lange Weg zur "Regierung der Nationalen Einheit". Innerer Konflikt und regionale Rivalitäten

Abstract

Im Juni 2009 fanden im Libanon international vielbeachtete Parlamentswahlen statt. Das Ergebnis wurde in westlichen Medien als Erfolg »moderater« Kräfte und als Rückschlag für die Hisbollah und damit auch für regionale Ambitionen des Iran begrüßt. Dennoch war eine neue große Koalition und die Bildung einer »Regierung der Nationalen Einheit« ohne Alternative. Mehr als fünf Monate vergingen, bis lokale politische Akteure und ihre Verbündeten in der Region, besonders Saudi-Arabien und Syrien, zu einem Kompromiss fanden. Das Land bleibt Arena und Gradmesser für regionale Rivalitäten. Die Gefahr besteht, dass es neuerlich in regionale Konflikte verwickelt wird
