Abstract

Vom 20. bis 22. September findet in New York ein Hochrangiges Treffen der VN-Generalversammlung zu den Millenniums-entwicklungs-zielen (MDGs) statt. VN-Generalsekretär Ban Ki-Moon legte im März 2010 den Bericht »Keeping the Promise« zu den Erfolgen, Defiziten und Herausforderungen bei der Erreichung der MDGs vor. Dessen Bilanz ist gemischt: Trotz einiger Fortschritte ist deren Tempo zu gering, um alle Ziele bis 2015 zu erreichen. Gleichzeitig fehlt der politische Wille, die hierfür notwendigen Reformen durchzuführen. Ban Ki-Moon rief dazu auf, beim MDG-Gipfel Mitte September einen Aktionsplan zu verabschieden, damit die Ziele fristgerecht erreicht werden. Ein solcher Aktionsplan solle konkrete Schritte, einen verbindlichen Zeitrahmen und zudem auch Verantwortlichkeiten festlegen, um Überprüfungen zu ermöglichen
