Die neue politische Landkarte Lateinamerikas

Abstract

Am Ende des Jahres 2006 wird sich die politische Landkarte Lateinamerikas nachhaltig verändert haben. Zehn Wahlen stehen bevor, darunter Präsidentschaftswahlen in Brasilien und Mexiko, die nach dem heutigen Stand der Wahlumfragen einen Wechsel in der politischen Orientierung der jeweiligen Regierung erbringen werden. Trotz einer gegenläufigen Tendenz in Brasilien wird gemeinhin von einem »Linksruck« in Lateinamerika gesprochen. Aber gerade die erste Wahlentscheidung in Chile am 15. Januar mit dem Sieg der Sozialistin Michelle Bachelet und die Vereidigung des neuen Präsidenten Evo Morales in Bolivien am 22. Januar haben gezeigt, dass die Spannweite dieses Begriffs sehr groß sein muss, wenn damit ganz unterschiedliche politische Bewegungen in den einzelnen Staaten erfasst werden sollen. Gleichwohl sind in Lateinamerika grundlegende politische Neuorientierungen zu erkennen, die auch für die Partner der Region nicht ohne Folgen bleiben werden. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
