Hisbollah vs. Israel: Steht ein neuer Nahostkrieg bevor?

Abstract

Seit Monaten warnen Beobachter vor einem neuen Waffengang zwischen Israel und der libanesischen Hisbollah. Im Zentrum der Besorgnis steht die Aufrüstung der schiitischen Organisation. Angesichts ihrer engen Beziehungen zu Iran und Syrien drohen sogar gesamtregionale Konfliktszenarien. Israel will Syrien als mutmaßliches Transitland für die Waffen der Hisbollah zur Verantwortung ziehen. Damaskus und Teheran haben sich mit der Hisbollah und der palästinensischen Hamas demonstrativ zu einer »Achse des Widerstands« zusammengeschlossen. Dennoch ist Krieg vermeidbar. Keine der beiden Seiten kann sich von einem bewaffneten Konflikt entscheidende strategische Vorteile ausrechnen. Die europäische Beteiligung an der UNIFIL-Friedensmission im Südlibanon bietet zugleich Eingriffsmöglichkeiten, um eine Eskalation zu verhindern
