Kroatien vor den Wahlen

Abstract

In Kroatien wird am 25. November ein neues Parlament gewählt. Nach einem innerparteilichen Führungswechsel im Frühjahr liefert sich die sozialdemokratische SDP ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Rennen mit der christlich-konservativen Volkspartei HDZ. Entgegen allen Erwartungen werden die zur Zeit laufenden EU-Beitrittsverhandlungen im Wahlkampf nicht parteipolitisch instrumentalisiert - statt dessen dominieren einerseits klassische innenpolitische Themen wie wirtschaftliche Fragen und die Bekämpfung der Korruption. Andererseits rückt mit dem bevorstehenden EU-Beitritt die Frage nach der Identität der kroatischen Gesellschaft stärker in den Mittelpunkt der Diskussion
