Thailand nach den Wahlen: Suche nach Einheit in einem zerrissenen Land

Abstract

Die jüngsten Parlamentswahlen in Thailand erbrachten einen klaren Sieg der Partei des früheren Ministerpräsidenten Thaksin Shinawatra, der 2006 durch einen Militärputsch aus seinem Amt vertrieben worden war. Trotz der eindeutigen Mehrheitsverhältnisse sieht sich Yingluck Shinawatra, die neue Ministerpräsidentin und jüngste Schwester Thaksins, mit gewaltigen Herausforderungen konfrontiert. Sie muss den von ihr proklamierten nationalen Versöhnungsprozess in die Tat umsetzen, das angespannte Verhältnis zu den ASEAN-Partnern bereinigen und nicht zuletzt das Image Thailands als lohnender Investitionsstandort mit den Forderungen nach größerer sozialer Gerechtigkeit in Einklang bringen
