Kirgistan unter neuer Führung: Aufbruch in eine bessere Zukunft?

Abstract

Mitte September 2005 häuften sich beunruhigende Nachrichten aus Kirgistan: Absetzung des Generalstaatsanwaltes, der die verbreitete Korruption mit Nachdruck verfolgt hatte, Ermordung eines Parlamentsabgeordneten, Notsitzung des Parlaments. Dabei war erwartet worden, daß Ruhe einkehren würde, nachdem Kurmanbek Bakiev am 10. Juli von der Bevölkerung mit dem überraschend hohen Ergebnis von 89% der abgegebenen Stimmen zum Staatspräsidenten gewählt und am 14. August 2005 feierlich in sein Amt eingeführt worden war. Deutschland und Westeuropa braucht in der hochproblematischen Region um Kirgistan dringend Verbündete. Und Kirgistan ist der einzige Staat dieser Region, in dem relative politische Liberalität herrscht, während islamistische Fundamentalisten noch keinen entscheidenden Einfluß haben.
