Ungewisser Ausgang der Wahlen in Serbien und Kroatien

Abstract

Ungewißheit liegt über dem Ausgang der bevorstehenden Wahlen in Serbien und Kroatien, den zwei größten und für die regionale Stabilität wichtigsten Staaten des westlichen Balkans. Obwohl in beiden Ländern nicht mit einem dramatischen Richtungswechsel zu rechnen ist, könnte eine weitere Stärkung der national-konservativen Kräfte in beiden Ländern den wirtschaftlichen und politischen Reformprozeß sowie die Annäherung an die Europäische Union beeinträchtigen. Zudem würde dadurch die regionale Stabilität nachhaltig Schaden nehmen. Die Regierungen der EU-Staaten wie der USA sollten noch eindringlicher als bisher auf die Durchsetzung und Einhaltung demokratischer und rechtsstaatlicher Normen bestehen und insbesondere nachdrücklicher die Zusammenarbeit der beiden Regierungen mit dem Internationalen Kriegsverbrechertribunal für das ehemalige Jugoslawien (ICTY) einfordern.
