Tunesien: Einzelfall oder erster Dominostein? Vergleichbare Probleme - unterschiedliche Rahmenbedingungen

Abstract

Nach dem Sturz des tunesischen Präsidenten und angesichts der Unruhen in Ägyptenstellt sich die Frage weiterer Dominoeffekte. Perspektivlosigkeit der Jugend, sozialeUngerechtigkeit und politische Repression - Ursachen der Proteste in Tunesien - sindProbleme in nahezu allen arabischen Staaten. Und Demonstrationen gegen die Regimehaben sich von Algier bis Sanaa verstärkt. Dennoch dürfte sich das tunesische Szenarioso nicht wiederholen: zu verschieden sind die politischen, gesellschaftlichenund wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen. Viel wird davon abhängen, ob Tunesiensich erfolgreich transformiert und wie sich die Situation in Ägypten entwickelt. Bereitsjetzt haben die Entwicklungen gelehrt: Stabilität kann trügerisch sein, und Diktatorengarantieren keine nachhaltige Stabilität. Die EU sollte ihre wohlwollende Politik gegenüberden autoritären Herrschern im Mittelmeerraum überdenken
