Streit um Einwanderung in den Niederlanden: Von "Multikulti" zur "Politik der harten Hand"?

Abstract

Am 30. Juni 2006 gab der niederländische Ministerpräsident Jan Peter Balkenende den Rücktritt seiner Regierung bekannt. Tags zuvor hatte er noch ein Misstrauensvotum der Opposition gegen seine Ministerin für Immigration und Integration, Rita Verdonk, überstanden. Der Streit innerhalb der Dreierkoalition war damit aber nicht aus der Welt geschafft. Die linksliberale Demokratie 66 hatte sich mittlerweile auf die Seite der Kritiker Verdonks geschlagen und kündigte nun ihre Koalition mit Balkenendes Christdemokraten und der Volkspartei für Freiheit und Demokratie (VVD) auf. Die Einwanderungs- und Integrationspolitik wird somit zum Schlüsselthema für die Neuwahlen am 22. November 2006. Der Wahlkampf hat bereits begonnen, denn Balkenende hält auch in seiner Übergangsregierung an Verdonk fest: Am 7. Juli 2006 konnte sein Minderheitenkabinett gegen die Stimmen der Opposition ein neues Integrationsgesetz durchs niederländische Parlament bringen.(SWP-aktuell / SWP)
