Tornado-Nachfolge: Fähigkeiten und Anpassungszeiträume sind entscheidend

Abstract

Der Prozess der Auswahl eines Nachfolgemodells für den Tornado der Luftwaffe nähert sich der finalen Phase. Die Bundesministerin der Verteidigung hat den ressortintern erarbeiteten Vorschlag Mitte April dem Verteidigungsausschuss des Bundestages vorgestellt und damit auch der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Die verbindliche Entscheidung über die Beschaffung trifft das Parlament voraussichtlich in der nächsten Legislaturperiode. Eine weitere Verzögerung des Auswahlprozesses wäre in mehr­facher Hinsicht schädlich. Dabei geht es längst nicht mehr nur um ein neues Flugzeug - die Politik hat zugleich darüber zu entscheiden, welche Luftwaffe sie haben will.
