"Hamastan vs. Fatahland": Fortschritt in Nahost?

Abstract

Mitte Juni 2007 errang die »Islamische Widerstandsbewegung« Hamas nach blutigen Auseinandersetzungen die Oberhand im Gaza-Streifen, brachte die dortigen Sicherheitseinrichtungen unter ihre Kontrolle und verkündete den Beginn »islamischer Herrschaft«. Als Reaktion darauf löste der palästinensische Präsident und Fatah-Vorsitzende Mahmud Abbas die Regierung der nationalen Einheit auf und verhängte den Ausnahmezustand. Er setzte eine Notstandsregierung unter Führung des bisherigen Finanzministers Salam Fayyad ein, erklärte den militärischen Flügel und die Sicherheitskräfte der Hamas für illegal und ordnete ihre Entwaffnung an. Eine Kooperation mit der Hamas wies er in ungewöhnlich harscher Sprache zurück. Israel und die internationale Gemeinschaft betrachten die Spaltung als Chance, die Palästinensische Autorität (PA) wieder zu unterstützen und zum diplomatischen Prozess zurückzukehren. (SWP-aktuell)
