Abstract

Für die USA ist Indien ein wesentlicher Baustein der künftigen Sicherheitsarchitektur in Asien. Am 28. Juni 2005 unterzeichneten der amerikanische Verteidigungsminister Donald Rumsfeld und sein indischer Kollege Pranab Mukherjee das 'New Framework for the U.S.-India Defense Relationship'. Es soll die sicherheits- und verteidigungspolitischen Beziehungen beider Länder auf eine neue Grundlage stellen. Wie weit trägt die Ankündigung einer neuen 'Ära' in den amerikanisch-indischen Sicherheitsbeziehungen? Welche Auswirkungen hat diese Entwicklung für die europäische Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik?
