Zuspitzung im Streit um den INF-Vertrag: USA werfen Russland die Stationierung neuer nuklearer Mittelstreckenwaffen vor

Abstract

Seit 2014 beschuldigen sich die USA und Russland gegenseitig, den Vertrag über das Verbot landgestützter Mittelstreckenwaffen (Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, INF-Vertrag) zu verletzen. Nun ist der Streit in eine neue Phase getreten. Die USA be-haup-ten, dass Russland mit der Stationierung eines nuklearfähigen Marschflugkör-pers be-gon-nen hat, der eine verbotene Reichweite zwischen 500 und 5500 km hat. Der US-Kongress fordert in einer Gesetzesvorlage militärische Gegenmaßnahmen, die unmittelbar die Nato betreffen würden. Sollte es nicht gelingen, die Vorwürfe des Vertragsbruchs aus der Welt zu schaffen, droht ein neuer Rüstungswettlauf in Europa. (SWP-Aktuell)
