Saudi-Arabiens "Vision 2030" und Trumps zweite Amtszeit: Zwischen Interessendivergenzen und Geschäftsbeziehungen

Abstract

Für Saudi-Arabien ist die anstehende erneute Präsidentschaft Donald Trumps mit zwiespältigen Erwartungen verknüpft: Einerseits pflegt das Königshaus enge Geschäftsbeziehungen zum designierten Präsidenten und dessen Umfeld, was einen privilegierten Zugang zum Weißen Haus eröffnen könnte. Andererseits könnten Trumps Nahostpolitik, seine konfrontative Haltung gegenüber China und seine Pläne zur Steigerung der heimischen Ölproduktion den laufenden Transformationsprozess des Königreichs im Rahmen der ehrgeizigen Entwicklungsagenda "Vision 2030" gefährden. Für Deutschland und seine europäischen Partner ergeben sich hierdurch Möglichkeiten für eine stärkere Zusammenarbeit mit dem Königreich, auch um eigene strategischen Interessen gegenüber Washington voranzubringen.
