Abstract

Das »Weimarer Dreieck« besteht mittlerweile seit 20 Jahren. Doch jenseits glanzvoller Gipfeltreffen war die deutsch-polnisch-französische Kooperation zu keinem Zeitpunkt ein wirksamer Gestaltungsfaktor der europäischen Politik. Dabei könnte das Format durchaus nützliche Funktionen in der EU wahrnehmen. Das gilt gerade für die grundlegenden Zukunftsfragen, vor denen die Union gegenwärtig steht. Anlass für gemeinsame Initiativen bieten nicht nur die aktuellen Herausforderungen in der Wirtschafts-, Finanz- und Energiepolitik. Auch in die Sicherheitspolitik und die Europäische Nachbarschaftspolitik, wo bisherige Strategien zu überdenken sind, könnte sich das Trio einbringen. Um eine konsequente Dreierkooperation zu erleichtern, sollten Deutschland, Frankreich und Polen die trilateralen Konsultationsstrukturen festigen
