Abstract

Der Entwurf des US-Verteidigungshaushalts für 2010 kündigt eine Neugewichtung der amerikanischen Militär- und Rüstungspolitik an. Die Obama-Regierung will die militärischen Fähigkeiten der USA einer neuen Bewertung der Bedrohungslage anpassen, bei der irreguläre Konfliktszenarien dominieren. Angestrebt wird eine Flexibilisierung der Streitkräfte, um ein breiteres Spektrum an Konfliktformen abdecken zu können. Washington will vor allem die Fähigkeitslücken im Bereich der asymmetrischen Kriegsführung schließen, die im Irak und in Afghanistan erkennbar wurden
