Heuschrecken oder globale Feuerwehr? G-7-Finanzminister diskutieren über den Umgang mit Hedgefonds

Abstract

Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel hat Transparenz und Regulierung von Hedgefonds zu einer Top-Priorität ihrer wirtschaftspolitischen G-8-Agenda gemacht. Die von ihr gestartete Initiative scheint auf den ersten Blick alles andere als radikal: Durch mehr Transparenz soll Risiken für die Stabilität des internationalen Finanzsystems vorgebeugt und sollen Anleger besser geschützt werden. Doch über die konkreten Maßnahmen besteht kaum Einigkeit unter den G-8-Ländern. Beim ersten Treffen der G-7-Finanzminister am 10. und 11. Februar 2007 beauftragten die Finanzminister und Notenbankgouverneure der sieben führenden Industriestaaten daher zunächst nur das »Forum für Finanzstabilität« (FSF), ihren im Jahr 2000 verfassten Bericht über Hedgefonds bis zum nächsten Treffen im Mai 2007 zu aktualisieren und eine Bestandsaufnahme durchzuführen. Ob die Staats- und Regierungschefs auf dem G-8-Gipfel Anfang Juni in Heiligendamm konkrete Beschlüsse verkünden können, bleibt indes ungewiss. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
