Das Öl des Irak und der irakische Entschädigungsfonds

Abstract

Der Irak verfügt über die drittgrößten Rohölreserven weltweit. Gleichwohl spielt er bei der Ölförderung noch eine untergeordnete Rolle. In den letzten drei Jahren hat sich die durch Krieg und Aufbauwirren beeinträchtigte Förderung wieder erholt und könnte in wenigen Jahren das Vorkriegsniveau übertreffen. Fünf Prozent der Erlöse aus dem Ölexport des Irak werden nach wie vor an den irakischen Entschädigungsfonds abgeführt. 17 Jahre nach der Besetzung Kuwaits durch den Irak ist es an der Zeit, das Land von dieser Last zu befreien, zumal die Mittel dringend für den Wiederaufbau benötigt werden
