Abstract

Der Ort war mit Bedacht gewählt. Mervyn King, Chef der Bank von England, forderte am 20. Februar in einem bedeutenden Schwellenland, im indischen Neu-Delhi, eine grundlegende Reform des Internationalen Währungsfonds. Mit ungewöhnlich deutlichen Worten warnte King vor einer zunehmenden Unsichtbarkeit des IWF. Die Institution müsse modernisiert, ihre Aufgaben überdacht werden. Noch dramatischer fiel kurz darauf ein Mahnruf Martin Wolfs in der Financial Times aus: Der IWF sei auf dem Weg in die Irrelevanz. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
