Abstract

Die Annahme des EU-Ukraine-Aktionsplans und die veränderte Rhetorik der neuen Kiewer Führung lassen auf einen Paradigmenwechsel in der ukrainischen Außenpolitik schließen. Anders als die Vorgängerregierung, die eine EU-freundliche Rhetorik nicht durch konkrete Aktionen untermauerte, kündigte die neue Regierung einschneidende innere Reformen und eine Anpassung der ukrainischen Gesetzgebung an EU-Standards an. Der neue ukrainische Präsident Wiktor Juschtschenko läßt keinen Zweifel daran, daß er den Platz seines Landes in der EU sieht. 2006 will die Ukraine formell die EU-Mitgliedschaft beantragen, der Beginn von Beitrittsverhandlungen wird für 2007 erhofft.
