Zuspitzung im Kosovo im Schatten der Irak-Krise

Abstract

Im Kosovo ist eine neue Eskalation im Gange, während die Aufmerksamkeit der internationalen Gemeinschaft und vor allem der USA auf die Irak-Krise gerichtet ist. Immer öfter werden Anschläge verübt, hinter denen offenbar eine neue bewaffnete Untergrundorganisation steht, die Albanische Nationalarmee (AKSh), die für ein Großalbanien kämpft. Zur gleichen Zeit haben die wichtigsten politischen Akteure gewagte Vorstöße unternommen, um sich besser für die erwartete Auseinandersetzung über den endgültigen Status der Provinz zu positionieren. Die Europäische Union steht nun vor der Herausforderung, das brisanteste Problem auf dem Westbalkan zügig zu entschärfen, ohne dabei im gleichen Maße wie früher auf das Engagement Washingtons zählen zu können. Die Ermordung des serbischen Premierministers Đinđić beraubt sie allerdings ihres wichtigsten Gesprächspartners auf Belgrader Seite. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
